Health & Wellness Committee
The Health & Wellness Committee coordinates and
sponsors programs and other initiatives to improve the health and wellness of NCCCR members and other older adults in the community. Works with the UNC Asheville Department of Health & Wellness Promotion and other groups to support these purposes.
Examples of recent and current efforts, many of which are in cooperation with other organizations:
- national health care policy forum
- health & wellness fair
- equipment support for UNC Asheville's Wellness Activities for Seniors in Asheville (WASA) program
- coordination with UNC Asheville on planning for North Carolina Center for Health and WellnessNote: Health and wellness-related courses offered by the College for Seniors are planned and administered by the College for Seniors.
The Health & Wellness Committee has one subcommittee, the Health Education Series (HES) Subcommittee. This subcommittee coordinates with experts to develop several health-related presentations for the spring and fall. A part of the Fabulous Fridays lecture series, these mid-day presentations cover a wide variety of health and medical topics of interest and value to NCCCR members and the general public. The public is welcome to attend these free sessions.
